Here in Central Texas, we might not always get that snowy, wintry weather, but that won’t stop us from enjoying some of the best seasonal winter activities! There have been several chances to play in the snow this year. But did you know that you can also go out and enjoy some ice skating right now, too?

The Whole Foods Market Downtown location offers ice skating right on their rooftop! The rink is always open to the public on Friday evenings and all day & evening on Saturdays and Sundays. The rink will occasionally be closed for private parties, so it’s best to check the website to confirm public skating hours before you go. Admission is $10 per person.

The Holiday Lights & Ice event features a 4, 000 square foot ice rink and a special “Winter Wonderland on Ice” kick-off production on December 18 at 6:30 p.m. starring international dancers and show skaters. This grand opening performance is followed by the first public skating session with Santa Claus at 7 p.m. The public is also invited to skate with Santa on the resort’s indoor ice rink overlooking scenic hill country views and a display of twinkling lights on Dec. 19, 20 and 23. Holiday-inspired treats and hot beverages will be served along with ornament and gingerbread cookie decorating in Santa’s Workshop. The ice rink is open to the public, and tickets are available for purchase in the Holiday Shop located in the Canyons Room. Skating tickets are Adult, Children (ages 12 and under). This indoor rink is open year-round for public skating. Admission is $6 and skate rental is $4 for children and adults. Kids 5 years old & under skate for only $5 on Saturdays & Sundays. Kids 5 & under skate for free during Monday-Friday afternoon public sessions with paid admission (excluding holidays).
This year, you can check out, their annual holiday ice show, featuring favorite Christmas movies. Figure skaters will bring holiday classics to the frozen stage, from “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” to “Home Alone.” See characters like Jack Skellington and Buddy The Elf perform their amazing skating tricks! Tickets range from .27–.09, and can be purchased in advance online here.
The annual will take place on Dec. 19 from 12-4 p.m. where you can take photos with Santa, enjoy a hot cocoa bar provided by the Austin Figure Skating Club, and skate to your favorite Christmas tunes. Regular admission fees apply.

Eisbahn (“ice rink” in German) returns to Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg for its 10th consecutive year. Open daily, excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you can enjoy outdoor ice skating on real ice in the Texas Hill Country. Special refrigeration units are used to keep the ice frozen even when the weather is warm outside. You can buy a come-and-go all-day pass for $10, including skate rental. Open Saturdays 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Open Sundays 1 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Open Monday – Friday before school is out for Christmas break: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (but always 10 p.m. on Fridays); Monday – Friday after school is out for Christmas break: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Closed Christmas Eve) and Christmas Day.

Feel the holiday spirit as you visit with Santa Claus and whirl around at “Winter Wonderland’s Ice Skating Rink”. The ice skating rink will be set up in Parking Lot 1 for all to enjoy in downtown Bastrop. Fees for an individual skater costs $10/45 min. Family of 3 Skating Package is $25/45 minutes and a Family of 4 Skating Package is $30/45 minutes.
